Pumpkin, Pumpkin, Pumpkin

The name sounds hearty, evokes a crisp change in the weather, and is equated with kicking off three of America’s favorite holiday’s….. Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, but what you don’t know is that there is more to pumpkin than just pumpkin pie. Pumpkin is not only a “super food” it’s very tasty and extremely good for you.

Forget about the pumpkin pie you get from the grocery store. Chances are it has not been made with a tastier variety of pumpkin, ergo, why a lot of people like the pumpkin pie spice flavor and think pumpkin on its own is awful.

However, there must be something to the taste of pumpkin that people just can’t live without, especially when fall brings a change in the leaves and conjures up visions of hay rides, jack-o-lanterns and family feasts. So, to kick off our fall love affair with pumpkin (over the coming months) I will would like to give you a brief synopsis on the different varieties of pumpkin available and share some of my favorite recipes that have been adapted to include pumpkin.

Since Halloween is around the corner, I thought I share with you some of my spooktacular treats and as Thanksgiving approaches, my recipe for Pumpkin Stuffing with Pork and Sage.

Let the pumpkin fest begin!
